ABOUT MARIÁNGEL VILLALOBOS

I am passionate about the intersection of culture and human-centered design in the context of international organizations. With a background in academic research, education, and public-facing work, I bring a unique blend of academic rigor and real-world experience to the table. My journey in academia as a researcher and educator has been centered around the connection between popular culture (with an emphasis on music and sound) and immigration. More recently, I\'ve applied my research skills and design thinking mindset in the dynamic setting of international organizations. My experience in UX research, combined with my social science background, allows me to approach complex challenges with empathy and user-centric solutions. I\'m passionate about optimizing the experiences of individuals navigating cross-cultural and often challenging environments. My goal is to contribute my expertise to leverage my unique background and skills to facilitate positive social change. In my current role as a UX Researcher at the International Monetary Fund, a financial agency of the United Nations, I collaborate on internal and public-facing digital products, including a collaboration with Oxford University to track trade disruptions due to climate change.
