ABOUT MUTLU UCUNCU

I have been the fluid dynamics and building physics discipline lead in numerous building, masterplan and infrastructure projects supporting teams across sports, rail, water, property, science, industry, technology, and city planning market sectors. With over 19 years of professional experience, I am specialised in applying Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) on a broad range of engineering problems to help deliver better performing designs. These applications include environmental wind and microclimate design, hydraulic modelling, natural and mechanical ventilation of buildings, and industrial fluid dynamics.I have a successful track record in sport venue projects. Over the course of my career, I have undertaken the technical lead role for my discipline on over 15 iconic sport venues, including the London Aquatics Centre (London Olympics 2012) and Qatar Foundation Stadium (FIFA World Cup 2022) to deliver healthy, comfortable, and safe environmental conditions for athletes and spectators.I have introduced CFD modelling as a new service offering of Arup in dams and reservoirs sector to inform safety critical design decisions for civil hydraulic structures. My co-authored paper, “CFD modelling for dams and reservoirs – best practice workflows, specification and review” published in Dams and Reservoirs Journal, was awarded the 2020 Bateman Award by British Dam Society, based on originality, technical context, and its influence on industry.
