Mustafa is a Senior Finance and Accounting Transformation professional with over 9 years of experience advising Insurance clients across Financial Reporting, Technical Accounting including IFRS 17 and large-scale finance system implementations. He specialises in supporting CFOs and Finance leadership teams through complex regulatory and accounting change and core finance transformation programmes.He began his career in the Assurance practice at PwC Pakistan, where he spent over four years leading audit engagements for listed non-life insurers and commercial banks, managing large teams and working closely with senior finance stakeholders.He currently works within EY UK’s CFO Consulting – Insurance practice, where he leads and delivers complex transformation and accounting advisory engagements, including:1- End-to-end finance system implementations, including Guidewire (London Market), Workday Financials, and Workiva Wdesk, covering accounting design, premium earning methodologies, sub-ledger integration, and tax reporting requirements.2- Multiple IFRS 17 implementation programmes, working alongside actuaries and IFRS specialists, with responsibility for gap assessments, technical accounting position papers, chart of accounts mapping to sub ledger outputs, performing dry run reconciliations and bridging gap between UK GAAP to IFRS 17 reported results.3- Finance optimisation and process efficiency initiatives, improving reporting timelines and BAU operating models.4- Ongoing technical accounting advisory, including drafting accounting policy papers and supporting complex P&C accounting matters under IFRS and UK GAAP.Previously, Mustafa worked with an Actuarial consulting firm on a nationwide IFRS 17 implementation initiative for a consortium of 27 general insurers in Pakistan, led by the Insurance Association of Pakistan (IAP). He played a key role in developing the industry-wide implementation roadmap, delivering technical training on the PAA approach, expense allocation and acquisition cash flows, and authoring guidance on general ledger mapping and disclosures.Mustafa is recognised for his ability to lead cross-functional teams, engage senior stakeholders, and deliver regulatory-compliant, commercially practical solutions across large, complex finance transformation programmes.
