About Mustafa Arisoylu
I am an engineering leader with 20+ years of experience building and scaling cloud and networking platforms across hyperscale cloud, edge infrastructure, telecom, and startups.Currently, I am a Software Development Manager at AWS EC2, leading multiple teams responsible for AI networking, RDMA-based data planes, SmartNIC (Nitro) platforms, and VPC networking that power next-generation AWS AI and compute instances.I built and scaled high-impact teams (from early formation to 20+ engineers) delivering RDMA-based AI networking solutions, including platforms supporting GB300-class AI workloads, high-performance inter-rack communication, congestion control, and end-to-end operational readiness across Control Plane, Nitro, Network Engineering, and NVIDIA partnerships.Across AWS, Equinix, Ericsson, and startups, I have owned products end-to-end — from customer engagement and architecture to delivery, launch, and operations — consistently driving order-of-magnitude improvements in performance, reliability, and cost.My background combines-People leadership (hiring, org design, coaching, performance)-Product ownership (roadmaps, prioritization, customer engagement)-Deep technical expertise in cloud networking, SDN/NFV, RDMA, distributed systems, and AI infrastructureInnovation (30+ patents and publications)I am passionate about building strong teams, solving hard infrastructure problems, and translating complex systems into reliable, scalable platforms that customers can trust.

Software Development Manager Iii
Jan 2022 — Present · Sunnyvale, CA, US
Built and led multiple teams (total of 30+ engineers) delivering RDMA-based AI networking and SmartNIC (Nitro) data plane platforms for AWS EC2, powering next-generation AI and high-performance compute instances. The teams own the software-defined networking data plane running on embedded Nitro controllers (SoC-based SmartNICs) through which all EC2 ingress and egress traffic flows.Founded and rapidly scaled a SWAT (SW Acceleration) team from 3 → 15 engineers in 5 months, delivering a new AI networking platform supporting GB300-class workloads, high-speed inter-rack communication, and specialized AI networking requirements.Owned end-to-end product and execution across Control Plane, Nitro Platform, Network Engineering, NVIDIA, and operations, driving alignment from architecture and design through GA and sustained post-production support.Delivered up to 4× performance improvements and significant cost and footprint reductions across multiple EC2 platforms and network interfaces (ENIs, LNIs, and specialized AI networking interfaces), by leading multi-generation launches of AWS Nitro cards and coordinating cross-organization delivery of new data plane features across C/M/R Gen6/8, C6gn, C8gn, C6i, M6i.Worked closely with internal customers including Outposts, Route53, VNF, Live Migration, Cloud Support, and Control Plane teams, through requirements gathering, backlog reviews, incremental delivery, customer testing, GA, and operational support.Led cross-organization initiatives spanning 5+ organizations to resolve long-standing customer issues, including achieving a 90% reduction in Live Migration network convergence problems.Established strong operational excellence mechanisms, including production canaries, health dashboards, ORRs, runbooks, and on-call processes, materially improving service reliability, readiness, and customer experience.Recognized by senior leadership as bar-raising for customer engagement, execution quality, and delivery at scale.
