ABOUT MUSHTAQ KAPASI
I am Chartered Civil Engineer with an MBA from University of Manchester and other formal qualifications in contract management (NEC4 Accredited PM) and project management (PMQ).Since joining RR SMR in August 2024, I have been engaged in enhancing and developing our organisational readiness for project delivery. This has involved developing the Resource Library which has formed the cornerstone of the resource planning aspects of the planning and estimation in the organisation, developing and implementing a new multilevel cost-collection CBS structure to generate the detailed cost intelligence necessary for product development and performance management. I have also been involved in compiling RR SMRs tender response for the GBN bid in particular demonstrating the programme and cost alignment necessary to instil confidence in our financial submission. Prior to joining RRSMR, I was part of the MACE team delivering the c£450m Manchester Airport Transportation Programme, I was involved in monitoring and helping improve the performance of our projects - in particular the new 150m Pier 2. Interfacing with Commercial, Planning and Risk Management colleagues, I oversaw the governance, project accounting and performance management of the project including EVM. I also owned the reporting function, collating, analysing and presenting the project data to not only reflect performance but also highlight trends to identify actionable insights. Before MACE, I held PMO/Project Control roles at Balfour Beatty and Kier Design Services. The roles involved administering EVM reporting, bringing about consistency in both project processes and outcomes, implementing efficiency enhancing systems changes, and working with colleagues to address aspects affecting organisational project management maturity. My personal approach as a PMO/Project Controls professional is centred on being the bridge – the integrator between planning (time) and commercial (cost); the impartial channel between the project for which performance is being reported and the Board to whom the performance is being reported; and most importantly working with all key stakeholders bridge the gap between where the performance is right now and where we want to be.
