About Murtiza Ali
I am a researcher specializing in array signal processing, with a primary focus on developing Direction-of-Arrival (DoA) estimation algorithms for challenging underwater and aerial environments. My work utilises deep learning and compressed sensing techniques to develop robust and scalable solutions for a diverse range of signal processing problems, including DoA estimation.In addition to DoA estimation, I have experience in speech signal processing, including speaker diarization and speech bandwidth expansion using deep learning. I have also worked on detecting and classifying underwater ROVs and aerial UAVs, developing models optimized for deployment on resource-constrained edge devices. A prototype for acoustic-based UAV detection has been showcased at events such as IInvenTive 2024/2025, Navy Day, and Youth Forums, and a related patent for an ROV detection system has been filed.My broader expertise includes image processing, with work on haze removal (as part of my M.Tech thesis) and object detection in aerial imagery. I have a strong foundation in digital signal processing and apply data-driven approaches using Python (TensorFlow and PyTorch) and MATLAB to solve real-world sensing challenges. I thrive in interdisciplinary and international research collaborations focused on intelligent acoustic and visual systems.
