ABOUT MURTAZA RIZVI
I am an imaginative, design-focused Architect with technical experience delivering projects to a high level of quality across a range of building typologies such as arts, education, mixed-use residential, workplace and manufacturing. I have 12 years experience as a qualified architect and have worked at respected Architectural practices across South-West England and Wales. In 2016 I helped Austin-Smith:Lord establish their Bristol studio, working as Project Architect on the delivery of the award winning UWE Digital Media Building and the National College for Nuclear Southern Hub. In 2018 I joined BDP where I enjoyed working in a large multi-disciplinary practice with global architects on projects across the UK and internationally with involvement in healthcare, aviation and social housing projects. At BDP I helped establish the Bristol Studio Climate Action Group, a strategic group that bought designers from different disciplines together to develop zero carbon design awareness and skill. More recently at Ridge I have been involved in projects within the advanced manufacturing and workplace sectors as well as cultural and ecclesiastical projects.I am actively involved in the architectural community and represented my profession as RIBA Bristol/Bath co-chair in 2017 and continue to help shape and organise RIBA events locally.ApproachI am passionate about designing sustainable, healthy and responsive architecture that enhances the places people live, work and play in. I believe architecture is for everyone, must go beyond abstract ideas alone and love the process of making buildings. I enjoy working with clients on creative briefs and collaborating with designers and construction teams to realise their design.I believe that as everything we design as Architects uses valuable resource then it should be crafted carefully and beautifully. InterestsOutside work I enjoy getting outside and feeling good. I enjoy watersports, mountain biking and anything that gets me moving.
