In an age when many journalists are generalists, CBC News still sees the value having beat reporters with an in-depth knowledge of subjects. It is this kind of institutional and policy acumen that has served me well during my eight years in Ottawa, where I have been given the latitude to cover the different aspects of the defence and veterans affairs file. Whether it is the finer points of counter-insurgency strategy, reporting from a conflict zone or the maze (some would say morass) of procurement process, I\'ve developed a solid base of expertise. My pieces are often on the leading edge of issues and events and have received wide play in print, online and on broadcast platforms.The evolution of journalism has seen me develop multitude of skills, allowing me to move seamlessly between online, radio and television.
