The Research Advisory Board for the 2SLGBTQI+ Tech Industry Census 2025–2026, is a national community-based research initiative led by QueerTech and supported by Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE) through the SSOGIE program. This groundbreaking project aims to gather and analyze data on the representation, experiences, and challenges of 2SLGBTQI+ professionals in Canada’s tech ecosystem.In partnership with The Dais at Toronto Metropolitan University, this research will produce the first-ever national industry report focused on 2SLGBTQI+ tech workers, along with policy briefs, educational resources, and recommendations for building a more inclusive and equitable sector.As an Advisory Board Member- Shape inclusive and intersectional research methodology- Review and interpreting data through a community-centred lens- Support the development of policy recommendations and public education tools- Guide the ethical and impactful dissemination of findingsThis project is a critical step toward evidence-based change in the tech industry—and I’m proud to be part of a team working to ensure all voices are represented.

ABOUT ANNA MURPHY
Anna Murphy is a passionate advocate dedicated to creating neighborhoods where everyone, regardless of background, can experience a deep sense of belonging and connection. Her work spans Calgary, Alberta, and all of Canada, focusing on fostering equity, inclusion, and community spirit. With a career that combines professional leadership and volunteerism, Anna is committed to driving meaningful and sustainable change. She has successfully collaborated with governments, stakeholders, donors, and community partners, always aiming to create safe and welcoming spaces where all can thrive. Anna recently served as Executive Assistant and Tour Officer to the Leader of the Official Opposition, Hon. Rachel Notley, in the Province of Alberta. In this role, she advanced her dedication to public service, contributing to significant initiatives such as the Transgender Day of Remembrance Member Statement and the first official Transgender Day of Visibility reception at the Legislature. Her volunteer efforts are equally impressive. Anna chairs the Gender Equity Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee with the City of Calgary and serves on the Social Wellbeing Advisory Committee. She is also actively involved with the Calgary Stampede, Calgary Stampede Foundation, and several boards, including the Calgary Arts Academy, the Women’s Centre, and the National Advisory Council for 2SLGBTQIA+ Issues with CIJA. Anna\'s contributions have been widely recognized. She was named one of Avenue Magazine Calgary\'s Top 40 Under 40 in 2023, awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal, and the Calgary Stampede Western Trailblazer Buckle for her leadership in equity and social justice. Anna Murphy is a true trailblazer, dedicated to building inclusive communities and advancing equity across Canada.
