I worked with Dr. Robin Taylor Wilson on two projects exploring the impact of environmental factors on cancer risk. During the first project, Environmental Exposure to Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) and Cancer Risk: A Scoping Review, I conducted systematic data reviews, created and organized data tables, and assisted in drafting the “METHODS” section of the paper. This experience introduced me to foundational research methodologies and emphasized the importance of environmental health as a social determinant. In the ongoing project, Cancer Among Families in a PFAS-Impacted Area, I am conducting literature reviews, assisting with manuscript editing, and contributing to the discussion section. This research has provided advanced exposure to epidemiology and biostatistics while deepening my understanding of how environmental factors affect health outcomes.
