About Murad H Taani
Academic professional and educator in nursing and public health with expertise in research, leadership, and collaboration in higher education and healthcare. Certified online and hybrid educator. Taught and mentored undergraduate and graduate nursing students. Developed and conducted workshops to foster innovation, design thinking and improve health outcomes. Developed and evaluated human-centered design strategies, including innovation and design thinking interventions, to improve student learning and empower them to influence healthcare system change. My research spans critical care, medical-surgical and adult care, and community health with an emphasis on promoting healthy behaviors and improving outcomes for adults and older adults, aligning closely with desired specialty areas. My research has generated more than $1 million in extramural funding, including grants from the U.S. National Institutes of Health and other national institutions. As a Research Director at Ovation Communities, I conduct comprehensive needs assessments and implement initiatives to improve patient care and operations. I played a key role at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in co-leading strategic planning and aligning nursing curricula with competency-based education standards outlined by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. I have a strong record of scholarly engagement and excellence in teaching, with a particular emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration and team science approaches that drive innovation and enhance both research and teaching outcomes. My commitment to student success, professional development, research, and service has been recognized through prestigious honors, including the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty and the Ascending Star Award from the Sarcopenia Definitions and Outcomes Consortium. I have been named a CALERIE™ Scholar and Walter Schroeder Nursing Research Scholar and have received notable awards, including the Harriet Werley New Investigator and Outstanding Achievement in Research.
