ABOUT MUNA D.

Hello! I am an MPH student in Epidemiology and Global Health at Georgia State University, graduating in 2027, with a track record of turning public health research into actionable insights and community impact. I have conducted direct field research in Ghana on water sanitation, HIV prevention, and women’s health, collecting and analyzing data from 270 community participants and collaborating with local health organizations to design culturally informed interventions. I have also supported behavioral health studies on smoking cessation and lung cancer screening. This work has included managing participant recruitment, conducting qualitative interviews, managing data in REDCap and NVivo, and analyzing results to inform program improvements. My work has contributed to publications on infectious disease risk factors in resource-limited settings and lung cancer prevention.Beyond research, I’ve led and contributed to diverse public health initiatives, including programs supporting refugee communities in the Atlanta area and health education campaigns. I also organized fundraising and donation drives, providing school supplies, clothing, and educational resources for children and teachers in rural Ghana. I have additionally planned and executed community events and translated participant feedback into evidence-based program improvements.I have received several honors, including recognition as a Gilman Scholar through the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program, the WPN Public Health Scholarship in Honor of President Becker, and being awarded a Global Scholar distinction, reflecting my academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to advancing public health globally.I bring strong skills in designing and conducting epidemiologic studies, collecting and analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data, evaluating public health programs, and engaging communities with cultural sensitivity. I am interested in opportunities in epidemiology, global health research, and data-driven program evaluation.
