ABOUT MUKESH BUTANI

I am Managing Partner at BMR Legal, a boutique law firm specializing in international tax, trade, Customs, foreign Investment laws and corporate governance regulations. Along-with my Partners, I lead a team of seasoned lawyers who specialise in advisory, advocacy, and dispute resolution services to Indian & multinational clients across industry segments and jurisdictions. With almost four decades of experience in Consulting, Big 4 and large professional services firm, I have lead multi-disciplinary teams. My entrepreneurial journey as Co-founder of BMR Advisors include incredible recognition to the firm and its Partners as a top Tier firm in Tax, Transaction & risk advisory services. The firm was labeled Global growth company by the World Economic Forum and receives mention at Harvard Business School case study, ‘BMR Advisors : Competing on Quality’.I represent clients in complex and high-stake disputes before various courts and tribunals, including the Supreme Court of India and Arbitration courts/ tribunals in foreign jurisdictions. I am a credentialed professional and thought leader in the field of international tax and investment treaties and transfer pricing regulations having authored multiple titles and publications which have been cited and praised by academia, practitioners, and policymakers worldwide. As a member of International Fiscal Association’s Global Supervisory Board and Reserve Panel Member of SIAC, I contribute to the development and promotion of best practices and standards in tax, investment law dispute resolution and corporate governance matters. I am an Independent Board member and Chair Audit committees of listed Indian and overseas companies. My mission is to leverage my expertise and insights to guide clients and Boards navigate through landscape changes in domestic and global tax policy with Advocacy before Government and multilateral bodies to help achieve their strategic goals.
