ABOUT MUJTABA ZAIDI
I’m Mujtaba Zaidi, a final year Software & Biomedical Engineering student at McMaster (GPA 3.9, Dean’s Honour List, Engineering Award of Excellence). I gravitate to backend & distributed systems: clean APIs, robust data models, and infrastructure that’s observable, testable, and easy to operate. Will be on co-op from Jan \'26 - Dec \'26 (the whole year!), before graduating in Apr \'27. How I’ve been leveling up• TELUS – Cyber Threat Intelligence: drove discovery and enrichment systems of external intel feeds, elevating visibility into phishing/malware campaigns targeting customers.• Scotiabank – Cryptographic Platforms: architected Vault-backed certificate lifecycle management with RBAC and auditability, improving compliance posture and service-to-service trust.• Manulife – Enterprise Architecture: end-to-end full-stack app that discovers cross-application dataflows and generates relationship diagrams for architects; ownership across backend, UI, and containerized deploys.• Shopify – Balance Expansion: just started!• Microsoft – Up next! What I like to build• Messaging/data pipelines and services where latency budgets, idempotency, and failure modes are first-class.• Developer-facing tools that make other engineers faster (clear contracts, docs, and guardrails).• Systems where correctness and operability matter as much as raw speed.🧰 ToolboxPython, Java, C, Bash, SQL, Go • Django/DRF, React • Celery/Redis • Kafka • Docker/Kubernetes • Azure • AWS • Spring Boot • Git/GitHub • REST/JSON • Pandas, TensorFlow/Keras (ML-adjacent) • HashiCorp Vault, PKI • UML/diagrams • Agile. How I workBias for speed, clarity & correctness: small PRs, strong tests, typed interfaces, useful logs/metrics, readable design docs. Low-ego collaboration, steady delivery. What’s nextTargeting Fall ’26 SWE (preference: NYC) at teams like Bloomberg, Stripe, Uber, Block, Robinhood, Microsoft, Google, Apple, and peers—especially groups building high-throughput messaging, market/financial data platforms, payments/identity, or internal developer platforms. I\'m available for one final co-op/internship for the fall 2026 term (September – December), before graduating in April 2027. If your team ships reliable systems and values clean interfaces and measurable impact, let’s talk.
