As a Management Trainee Officer (MTO) at Artistic Milliners, I moved into the Procurement SCM-Import Department, where I manage the sourcing of trims and accessories from international suppliers in China, Sri Lanka, Turkey, America, and Canada. My key responsibilities include:Supplier Coordination & Order ManagementHandle the entire process of sourcing trims and accessories by working with global suppliers. I place orders, track shipments, and ensure timely delivery to our central warehouse.Quality Assurance & Cost OptimizationEnsure sourced products meet quality standards and align with cost goals. I regularly evaluate suppliers to ensure compliance with specifications, while also optimizing costs and reducing lead times.Lead Time & Delivery ManagementOversee the logistics process from order placement to delivery, ensuring that materials are available for production without delays. I monitor lead times to support production schedules.Cross-Functional CollaborationCollaborate with internal teams such as production and design to ensure sourced trims and accessories meet specifications and timelines. I maintain strong communication with suppliers to resolve issues and improve the procurement process.Market Analysis & Supplier RelationshipsRegularly assess global suppliers, negotiate terms, and build strong relationships to ensure a steady supply of materials, competitive costs, and quick responses to urgent needs.Data-Driven Decision MakingUse supplier platforms to track orders and analyze performance data. I manage cost and freight rate approvals, using the ERP-based Oracle system to monitor and improve procurement processes, making data-driven decisions to boost efficiency and reduce costs.Through these responsibilities, I’ve gained a strong understanding of global supply chains, procurement, and vendor management, ensuring smooth material flow and supporting production efficiency.
