ABOUT MUHAMMAD HAMAS YOUNAS

As a recent graduate with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Economics, I am passionate about working as a development practitioner and contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). I have 2+ years of combined experience in the private and public sectors, where I applied my skills in monitoring, evaluation, research, planning, and policy advocacy. Currently, I am a Youth Member at the United Nations Association of Pakistan (UNAP), where I participate in various activities and events related to the SDGs, human rights, peace, and security. Previously, I was an Associate at the Federal SDG Support Unit of the Ministry of Planning Development and Special Initiatives, where I developed a policy on how the private sector can implement and support the SDGs in Pakistan and prepared a report on the impact of the SDGs on Pakistan for the Planning Commission. I also supported the monitoring and evaluation efforts of SDG-related initiatives, collecting and analyzing data, tracking progress, and assessing the impact of policies and projects. Before that, I was a Monitoring Evaluation and Research Officer at Aurat Foundation, where I designed and implemented data collection methods, monitored project activities and outcomes, and provided strategic advice to the project head and management based on M&E findings. Through these experiences, I have gained valuable insights into the development sector and the challenges and opportunities it faces. I have also enhanced my research skills and published 3 research papers as a first author, along with an assessment paper on the progress of the SDGs in Pakistan. I am proficient in R software and have a certification in Results-based Management from UNICEF. I am fluent in English, Urdu, and Punjabi, and have a keen interest in economics and public policy. I am eager to learn from and collaborate with other development professionals and stakeholders, and to apply my knowledge and skills to make a positive difference in the world.
