ABOUT MUHAMMAD ABUBAKAR

Early-career quantitative researcher working on causal inference and policy evaluation. My work sits at the intersection of political economy, public finance, and economic development, with a focus on understanding how large-scale policy interventions and structural shocks shape economic and social outcomes.I specialise in applied econometrics and empirical research design, using methods such as difference-in-differences, event studies, and instrumental variables to estimate causal effects. My master’s research examines how exposure to conflict influences democratic support, while a separate project evaluates the impact of labour market policy on cognitive mental health using a panel dataset. Across projects, I construct structured research databases, conduct rigorous data cleaning and statistical modelling, and translate complex analysis into clear, policy-relevant findings.Beyond academic research, I bring practical data and experience working with stakeholders. As a Data Analyst, I strengthened database systems and developed analytical dashboards to support evidence-based decision-making. In the charity sector, I designed and delivered a stakeholder satisfaction survey covering 250+ respondents, conducted phone interviews, and translated findings into interactive dashboards to support operational improvements and engagement strategies.
