ABOUT MUDATHEER M.
I’m a Psychology student at the University of East Anglia passionate about supporting adults and young people’s mental health, helping them thrive in education, work and beyond. My academic interests, practical experience, and personal drive all centre on promoting emotional wellbeing through empathy, structure, and early intervention. I am currently studying modules such as: Clinical Psychology, Educational Neuroscience, Forensic Psychology and Neurodevelopmental disorders.Currently, I’m completing my dissertation on how we can optimising learning for university students with ADHD, looking at the impact of ADHD trait matching on performance of group tasks. I aim to draw knowledge on guidance on the struggles of students with ADHD in the higher education industry, with the aim to lobby for better support for these students that may consequently struggle with academic achievement at university.Alongside my studies, I serve as a Senior Student Ambassador, ADHD UK Ambassador, Male Mental Health Representative for Headucate, and Vice President of the Photography Society. These roles have allowed me to advocate for inclusion, lead teams, and engage with students on wellbeing initiatives.I have just completed my placement year, as a Student Housing Engagement Worker at YMCA Norfolk where I supported young people (aged 16-25) facing homelessness and mental health challenges. I facilitated one-to-one wellbeing sessions, risk assessments, and the creation of tailored support plans in my role. These experiences strengthened my safeguarding knowledge, and helped me in learning how to use evidence-based approaches to build trust, and help vulnerable individuals.I’m known for being empathic, reliable, and calm under pressure, qualities that help me connect with people from all backgrounds and work effectively within teams that manage multiple responsibilities.Beyond psychology, I’m an avid photographer (@mud_jpeg) and I love playing badminton. I’m always looking for ways to combine psychological insight, creativity, and compassion to make a lasting difference in young people’s lives. Im hoping my dissertation and other roles gives me the platform to create change in the current education system, helping teachers support students with neurodivergance and mental health disorders more effectively.
