ABOUT MAXIMILIAN SÖREN POLLAK

Although successful in my sales career, I have realised the aspects of my work I find most rewarding were mostly revolving around Data and Software, so I decided to switch.All throughout my career I have been ​​able to gain an understanding of the ecosystem which is involved in data infrastructures and collaborative processes.After my experience in retail, I\'ve realised that leveraging data in the right way can be the key to improve business operation. This was the kick start to my journey into the world of data.Road so far:Being very self driven as well as being motivated by learning new things and solving problems, I started with self studying and then continued with a data analytics bootcamp which built on top of my self taught knowledge of python and computer science. In the bootcamp I gained immense knowledge in just 9 weeks, including SQL, data analytics, data wrangling and more.I’ve realized soon after that I enjoy the early/backend process of data analytics the most, so I’ve soon started my second bootcamp this time, focused on data engineering.This 12 week bootcamp was focused on teaching the ins and outs of data engineering, giving an overview of what the discipline is all about and helping you understand the connections between each step better. Learnings included: ETL/ELT, data acquisition, telemetry, data warehouses, cloud, SQL, command line, data processing and much more.Current Learning:Now I’m working on completing the Udacity nanodegree in data engineering. A self-paced bootcamp with real world examples teachers and a capstone project to include all the learnings. This will help me solidify the learnings I’ve gathered so far and give me a greater and deeper understanding of what data engineering really is about in practical terms.The second big learning journey I’m on currently is to add GOlang to my skills.
