ABOUT MATTHEW SHAVER
I am a young, eager to learn engineer who is seeking full time work in the Knoxville metro area. I am skilled in Solidworks (CSWP), Excel, project management, communication, collaboration, as well as various software. I am interested in mechanical, design, process, manufacturing, and project engineering. I am a recent graduate of the University of Tennessee with my B.S. in aerospace engineering. For the past year I was in a residency program with Fellowship Church in Knoxville where I worked with the mobilization department to aid in international and local trip training procedures, oversaw app development for a training module resource, worked with local food pantries, and got to take part in theology and leadership classes. During the last three months of the residency I also worked part time as a mechanical engineer with Fort Defiance Industries (FDI) redesigning a subsystem for a Class 1 medical device. In my time at FDI I utilized my SolidWorks and project management skillsets to take the project from concept up until implementation in my short three months of part time work. During my time at the University of Tennessee, I was a member of the Design Build Fly (DBF) competition team for the 20••••22 and 20••••23 academic years. During my first year on the team I was an underclassman member on the payload and CAD team. For the second year, I was a senior member on the team and the CAD team lead. I also aided in manufacturing of the aircraft. Our 2022-23 aircraft finished 20th out of 99 teams, a school best finish, and placed top 10 in competition performance scoring, also a school best finish. On the side I also operate a small business called Beam Wood Arts utilizing my design skills to create product on an xTool P2 laser that I sell online. I have amassed over 1,300 transactions to date and continue to grow this small business. While I was at UT, I entered and placed first in the Graves Business Plan Competition in 2020 with this business plan, then under the name Rocky Top Engraving.
