Software developer with 18+ years of post-academic professional experience, including 4+ years of team lead/management experience. My major areas of expertise include search technologies, programming languages (especially functional programming), and distributed systems.Education:Bachelor\'s and master\'s degrees in mathematics from the University of Waterloo. Worked on a PhD in Medical Biophysics at the University of Toronto before concluding that the academic grind is not for me.Work Experience:Various co-op/internship positions. After completing my master\'s, I worked for a year as a research programmer at Sunnybrook hospital, and my software was eventually commercialized and sold by a medical imaging company. Worked my way up at Embarcadero Technologies from developer, through team lead, to middle management. Worked as CTO at a startup in Belgium. Moved to Amazon as an SDE2, and was promoted to SDE3.I do not accept unsolicited connection requests from people that I do not know.
