About Matthew Scott Douglas
Many growing businesses reach a point where things start to feel messy.More software gets added. More administrative staff get hired. Processes become unclear. Reporting becomes harder. The business is growing, but operational complexity grows with it.That’s usually the point where companies need technology leadership, but most SMBs are not ready for a full-time CTO or Director of Technology. That’s where I come in.I work with owner/operators of growth-stage companies as a Fractional Director of Technology, helping them bring clarity to their operations, systems, and automation strategy. In practice, that means:• Mapping and improving operational workflows• Evaluating and organizing the company’s software stack• Identifying automation opportunities across the business• Implementing practical AI and automation where it makes sense• Training team members on tools, systems, and new features• Managing software and technology vendor relationships• Supporting staff when questions arise around technology or workflows• Helping leadership make better technology decisions as the company growsThe goal is simple: help businesses scale without adding unnecessary complexity or back-office headcount. My background combines business leadership and ownership of outcomes with hands-on work helping companies choose and use technology better.Since 2017, I’ve helped businesses evaluate their technology environments, choose the right systems, and improve how their teams use them. I later served as CEO of an AI software company, where I owned outcomes across sales, marketing, product, service delivery, and major enterprise data projects for organizations including Intel, Konica Minolta, and AGCO.I’ve also worked across a wide range of AI and software initiatives, which gives me a practical view of what new technology can actually do inside a business — and where it tends to get overhyped. What matters most to me is not the technology itself. It’s whether the business runs better because of it.If your company is experiencing this kind of operational complexity and you’re looking for technology leadership without hiring a full-time executive, feel free to reach out or schedule a time to talk.https://calendly.com/md-mass/30min
