ABOUT MATHEW HAYWARD-HILL

Senior Azure SQL Database engineer at Microsoft.Most of my career has been working for investment banks as a SQL Server DBA, and I have enjoyed a stint on the trading floor at Barclays Investment Bank. Since then, I have had a few roles that have been the complete opposite, working in start-ups in a DevOps culture - allowing me to be more involved in the development lifecycle of new applications, creating and tuning code.I spent twelve months as a SQL Server Engine (on-prem) Support Engineer at Microsoft in Reading, where I handled severity A cases daily. In 2021, I re-joined Microsoft as a member of the Azure Rapid Response team, providing critical support to our most important enterprise customers and top start-ups. My expertise expanded to include MySQL and Postgres database offerings, and I spent twelve months in the Big Data team supporting Azure Databricks and Apache Spark. In 2023, I transitioned to the Azure SQL Database team, where I continue to leverage my extensive knowledge to support and innovate.
