Glasgow, GB

New year, new role! I\'ve taken on a new department-level role within DNV\'s Digital Energy in UK & Ireland. This is a shift away from operational people management towards technical strategy, governance, and technology leadership, alongside contributing to wider leadership discussions and long‑term priorities.I focus on external engagement and hands‑on technical leadership in our projects, working with customers and internal teams to provide our Digital Trust, data consulting and data science services. A core part of the role is translating emerging technologies into practical, defensible approaches, promoting good technical governance and best practice, and mentoring technical capability so that complex digital systems can be deployed safely and sustainably.

ABOUT MATT CELNIK

I lead a team delivering Digital Trust services across the energy sector and other high-risk industries. Our mission: help customers adopt digital technologies — including AI — with confidence that they are safe, reliable and deliver real value. As part of DNV, we provide independent assurance and trusted advisory services. That means verifying readiness, validating claims, and exposing risks early; particularly in safety-critical environments where failure isn’t an option.I’m a chartered chemical engineer with a PhD in stochastic modelling from Cambridge. My background spans technical safety consulting (HAZID, QRA, offshore audits etc.) and scientific computing. I’ve published peer-reviewed research, spoken at international conferences, and appeared on panels for organizations like the ODI.I still keep my coding skills sharp: primarily Python, with experience in C++ and C# too. I created DNV’s in-house Python training program back in 2016, which is still going strong. My core focus today is digital assurance: applying engineering discipline to complex systems so decisions are based on evidence, not hype.If you need independent verification for digital or AI solutions in safety-critical contexts, let’s talk.
