Main area of expertise is cataract surgery (including premium intraocular lenses, complex cataracts, and high-volume cataract surgery); with specialist interest in glaucoma surgery and management; and general & emergency ophthalmology.Currently: Consultant Ophthalmologist in Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Tetbury Hospital Trust; Clinical Assistant Professor London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and Honorary Associate Professor University of Cape Town.Specialties: Premium and complex, as well as high-volume high-quality cataract surgery (total cataract surgeries performed. Most recent cases PCR rate of 0.5%).\'Moorfields Safe\' technique trabeculectomy glaucoma surgery with releasable sutures.Surgical training and education. Focus on training in cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery; with special interest in simulation. Set up simulation surgical training centres throughout sub-Saharan Africa, and trained more than 200 eye surgeons from around the world. Attained Masters degree in Surgical Education (MEd) at Imperial College London. Awarded PhD through LSHTM, with thesis on Simulation-based surgical education in cataract and glaucoma.
