ABOUT RUYEL MIAH

I am an early-career researcher dedicated to securing a viable future for coastal communities and the ecosystems they depend on. My research sits at the critical intersection of governance, blue food systems, social equity, and planetary health, with a deep focus on small-scale fisheries in the Global South. My research looks at how policies designed hierarchically can unintentionally undermine human well-being, food security, and livelihoods. My goal is to bridge the gap between science, policy, and community action to help design governance systems that simultaneously achieve ecological sustainability, nutritional security, and social justice for the millions who depend on coastal fisheries resources.
