As a Probation Officer in training under the Professional Qualification in Probation (PQiP) programme, I am responsible for supervising people on probation, assessing and managing risk, and supporting rehabilitation through structured interventions. My work focuses on balancing public protection with personal change, ensuring decisions are ethically sound, defensible, and evidence-based.Key Responsibilities: • Conducting risk and needs assessments using tools such as OASys. • Preparing pre-sentence, parole, and risk management reports. • Managing caseloads and developing tailored supervision and intervention plans. • Liaising with multi-agency partners including the police, social services, mental health, and community rehabilitation services (e.g. ARCH, Catch22, Forward Trust). • Promoting compliance, rehabilitation, and reintegration into the community. • Upholding equality, safeguarding, and data protection standards.
