My life\'s work is to help realize the benefits of science and technology for society. I believe that the most important ingredient for innovation is people, and I focus on building capacity on an individual and organizational level to help scientists and engineers make their expertise useful in a broader context. I also catalyze and support collaborations that help scientific and technical organizations enhance the broader impacts of their work. At the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, one of the 17 U.S. Department of Energy laboratories, I connect scientific and technical expertise with regional challenges, like modernizing the electric grid and reducing waste.
