Media professional turned academic administrator, I am a PhD and Masters in Journalism and Mass Communication besides being a Commerce Graduate from the St.Xavier’s College,Kolkata. I have over 37 years experience in Mainstream Media, Media Education and Academic Administration. Former Professor & Director, School of Media and Communication, Adamas University, Kolkata Additional Responsibilities : Channel Head, Chetana TV & Director, Academic Outreach Projects under Samit Ray Foundation (SRF) & Adamas University Former Professor & Dean, School of Liberal Arts & Culture Studies, Adamas University Kolkata Former Professor & CEO-Academics & Quality Assurance Cell at Rice Education & Adamas Group. Former Director, NSHM Instiute of Media & Design (NIMD), Kolkata • Former Director, School of Communication (ASCO), AMITY University, Kolkata with additional charge as Director, Amity School of Fine Arts (ASFA) and Amity School of Fashion Technology (ASFT). • Worked as Director, Institute of Leadership, Entrepreneurship & Development (iLEAD), Kolkata. • Worked as Principal of NSHM Institute of Media & Communication (NIMC) for over six years. Under my leadership, NIMC emerged as a pioneer Media College in Eastern India. I served the Media Industry in different responsible positions for over two decades in News Agency, Television and Print. During my tenure in Media, I have covered important Political and Sports events, in the country and abroad. I have also been a packager with the BBC Bengali Service and a popular compere and news reader with All India Radio, Doordarshan and other private channels. Important positions held in the Media Industry include – Input Editor: ETV Network, Editorial Coordinator-East: BSTV, Chief of Bureau: TVI Network and Senior Correspondent: United News of India (UNI). Before coming full time to Media Education, I have been a Visiting Faculty, Paper Setter and External Examiner of five Universities and a number of Premier Media Institutions across the country.
