About Matthew Gregory
I’m a systems-focused software engineer who designs, builds, and debugs complex systems end-to-end—from network and hardware layers through virtualization, OS/kernel, data flows, indexing, and application code.I spot bottlenecks others miss: over-reliance on web workers, middleware congestion, inefficient stored procedures, or poorly chosen joins. I’ve worked across most mainstream hardware platforms, kernel modules, and large-scale data systems.I’m experienced with agile practices, Scrum, Jira/Confluence, CI/CD pipelines, and thorough documentation (code, API, and end-user). Unlike pure architects, I’ve implemented my own designs, lived with their flaws, and iterated through production issues.AI/ML/NN/etc: Yes, I know neural networks. I also know synaptic networks. I understand recursive errors in model depth. I know what works, what doesn’t, and where growth can realistically take us without metaphysics or wishful thinking. Information gradients create geodesic manifolds. You can’t ignore the boundaries of computational gradients. AI can write an algorithm, it can’t understand how an API turns into a UI because it can’t simulate a user and without the user, the data is just data. Training sets explode context but they don\'t create a universal model (world view) so there are no cross-context vectors explored. It\'s a recursion-depth issue, not just a token limit. I get it.“Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.” - Bill Watterson
