About Ashwin Kumar Makwana

After the Secondary education Ashwin Makwana wanted to pursue higher education but due to financial constrains that his family went through, society stepped in supported his pursuit for higher education. Thus, Ashwin believes that he has responsibility of paying back to them. With the support that was provided to him Ashwin pursued his Master’s Degree in Social Management. During which he started writing articles on social issues like Women Education, Dalit Women Education, Social exploitation of Marginalised people, etc. After Completing his Masters, Ashwin joined Gandhi Fellowship to explore and establish a link between his education and the work that’s being done on the ground level. During this journey he has been part of project and events like Quality in Education through E-Mart Class, Environment Exhibition and creation of a teaching module for EVS teachers. As a social activist he took up an initiative when he found out from his fellowship batchmate that one of their school was named on the basis of a particular cast. He brought the issue in front of “Dalit Adhikaar Munch” and with their help filed a complained which led the governing authority to rename the school. Makwana is not only a social worker but also a social activist thus trying to bring social change in the society.
