New Door Ventures serves and represents a population of historically excluded youth in the Bay Area. A typical client profile has a combination of critical risk factors: a background in foster care, justice system involvement, significant substance abuse histories, experience of homelessness, connection with gang activity, and lack of positive adult supports. New Door’s Education Program is a dynamic combination of direct instruction – in critical thinking, language arts, and mathematics – and targeted, individualized exam preparation to support young adults achieve their high school equivalency (GED/HiSET) to gain economic mobility. We know that students reach their goals when they are engaging their whole selves, developing as learners and members of a community. The Education Program offers individualized high school equivalency test preparation, classroom instruction, tutoring, and education bridging to career in which social-emotional learning is integrated into all instruction. Program graduates are able to connect to post-secondary education opportunities and/or career tracks.• Leads and manages the Education Program and Education Program team• Designs and evaluates program curricula, activities, and policies• System designing to produce efficient and high-quality youth programming• Facilitates Language Arts test preparation courses via in-person and virtually• Engages in community outreach to cultivate relationships with stakeholders• Identifies professional development opportunities and best practices
