Have gone from journalism to strategic communications to journalism and now back to strategic communications - with a media company. Scripps, like most, is evolving, growing and preparing for the future. I am fortunate to be joining an experienced communications team to support a progressive-minded company and senior leadership. I previously spent 8+ years in strategic communications/public relations/integrated marketing. Helped clients with crisis communications, corporate communications, marketing communications, community relations, media relations and social media. Experience in strategic messaging, issues/reputation management, event marketing & promotions, media training, content creation and more. Loved every minute of it. Learned a lot. Worked with great people. Spent 28 years in journalism as a reporter, editor, managing editor and senior news director. News will always be in my soul. Helped launch magazines and websites from scratch. Experienced in project management, staff and budget management, writing, editing, audience development, strategic planning, teaching/coaching/mentoring, marketing, social media, creativity, teamwork and collaboration. Loved every minute of it. Learned a lot. Worked with great people. Wrote, published or edited nine books. Adjunct journalism professor at University of Cincinnati and editorial adviser to The News Record. Graduate of Leadership Cincinnati Class 36.
