ABOUT MOUNISH P S
I recently completed my MSc in Data Science from the University of Bristol, where I focused on applying Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to real-world problems. My interests lie in building intelligent systems that transform complex data into meaningful insights and practical solutions. I am currently working as an AI Intern at Avonshire, where I contribute to projects involving artificial intelligence and data science solutions. In this role, I assist with the development, testing, and evaluation of machine learning models, perform data analysis and model training tasks, and collaborate remotely with the AI engineering team. My work also involves supporting projects related to Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). During my MSc, I completed an industry dissertation project with Synoptix, focused on developing an AI-based fire detection system for industrial environments. The project explored the use of synthetic data for training image classification models, implementing and benchmarking CNN architectures such as MobileNet and ResNet, and evaluating model performance across different synthetic and real data combinations. The goal was to improve early fire detection and support real-time mitigation systems. I also worked on a Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) project using 10 years of ultrasonic sensor data to detect anomalies in engineering structures. I developed and evaluated deep learning models including LSTM, NARX, Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), and Transformers, applying signal processing and time-series analysis techniques. The findings were presented through interactive Tableau dashboards and model performance comparisons.
