During my tenure at HDR I have had the privilege to practice architecture on small and large science and technology related projects. My project experience is predominantly balanced between pharmaceutical industry along with government and university research institutions. Essentially work as a laboratory consultant for both large and small research facility projects in both private industry and government agencies. My government experience has grown the last couple of years. I have recently assisted the Veteran Affairs with developing and updating their Research and Development design guides, equipment, and space criteria’s. Along with being invited as a G20 grant reviewer for the NIH. • My experience in laboratory planning includes gathering program information and developing design solutions for biomedical laboratories at containment levels 2, 3 & 4 as well as vivarium and nanotechnology laboratories. I provide planning and design services by presenting overall facility concepts and detailed laboratory designs to clients, lab users and peer reviewers. In addition to user requirements, I consult with the organization safety officers to ensure that building design solutions and operational protocols work to keep laboratory users and the surrounding environment safe and secure. • I meet with user groups to understand and guide what requirements they need for their new laboratory spaces. I develop anything from space programs to construction documents assisting in getting adequate spaces designed and constructed to meet the high-quality standards required of the best research laboratory environments. • I develop and coordinate casework layout, specifications, and any associated equipment matrixes. • Performed Post-Occupancy Evaluations for database benchmarking & knowledge-based design. • I have worked on biomedical facilities in the US, China, the UK, & Denmark. In the middle east, Dubai and Egypt.
