About Morgane Dackiw
Originally from Montreal, Morgane is a graduate student in the Machine Listening Lab at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, under Kait Frasier. Her research is focused on better understand how oceanographic features affect the distribution of cetaceans in the Gulf of Mexico. She is working on species level click classification from long term acoustic data in order to build predictive habitat models at depth.She has research experience in both terrestrial and marine spatial ecology. Before focusing on marine systems, she spent three years studying how changes in forest habitats, both short- and long-term, affect the distribution of chimpanzees in Kibale National Park, Uganda.
