ABOUT MORGAN RITTER

Hi, I\'m an artist, poet, and arts worker. For almost 20 years I’ve cared for art and worked directly with artists in a variety of contemporary arts nonprofits & municipal spaces, and have contributed my working artist’s perspective to these often bureaucratic institutions. My dedication to working within the arts is centered by a personal ethos - on the protection of vulnerable, idiosyncratic forms of expression and their representation in society. My experience includes project managing, producing exhibitions, temporary art projects, award programs, managing large art purchases, publications, and events. In these projects, I’ve worked with people from wildly differing backgrounds – artists and poets who may be commonly classified as emerging, marginalized, highly acclaimed, interdisciplinary, traditional, and/or contemporary, as well as people who work within City and County Bureaus, elected offices, and community organizations. Aside from executing exhibitions and programs, my sincere support to artists include advocating that their vision and labor receive adequate compensation, encouraging their professional development, community building, mentorship, and organically weaving peer-to-peer relationships. The work of W.A.G.E.(Working Artists for the Greater Economy) is important to me as I work in art spaces, as it provides industry standards for artists\' compensation and establishes sustainable and more equitable economic relationships with artists/arts workers and institutions.
