I have officially completed the Pioneer Academics research. My final research paper topic was:\"The Role and Cross-Cultural Influence of PTSD in the Brain\'s Memory Formation and Fear Processing.\" During the first section of the Pioneer Research Program, we met for a total of four sessions. During these initial group sessions, we discussed two books. The first book was entitled, “What is Health? Allostasis and the Evolution of Human Design” by Peter Sterling. There were two learning goals associated with this book, and I wrote an essay associated with each learning goal. The first goal was to understand that human design was constrained to be energy efficient due to resource limitations, and that energy efficiency is achieved by predictive regulation at every level (cells to individuals). The second goal was to understand that predictive regulation enables adaptations to expected conditions, and that some adaptations are considered to be healthy whereas others can cause chronic and disabling conditions. During the second section of the Pioneer Research Program, my Professor and I met for five individual one-on-one sessions. The goal of these individual meetings was to guide the scholar through the process of writing a research proposal which included the following seven elements:(1) A review of the relevant research literature on the topic under investigation;(2) A statement of the hypothesis or hypotheses to be tested;(3) The proposed approach to testing the stated hypothesis or hypotheses;(4) A detailed description of the methods to be used in the proposed study;(5) A general description of how the results of the study would be analyzed and possible outcomes interpreted;(6) A conclusion section in which the significance of possible outcomes of the proposed research are discussed; and (7) A reference section containing proper citations of all published work described in the proposal.My final paper grade was an \"A\", and I am thrilled!

ABOUT MONWABISI DAVID QEKI
I am a passionate child and youth advocate. I have vast experience of advocating for youth and children rights, conducting a lot of projects aimed at protecting their rights and helping them in their mental health. At age 16, I published a poetry book entitled Young MindSetters in pursuit of reaching and extending an imaginary hand to those people who need emotional support but cannot get it from anywhere. In 2022, I created the LIDDO Initiative Africa project. This is my organisation, advocating for effective integration and administration of youth and children in decision-making processes in Africa. We advocate for a non-tokenistic participation of youth and children through their own active parliaments, access to leadership opportunities, and their involvement in issues affecting them and their countries. We are hosting a leadership and academic camp in Lesotho on 22-26 January 2024.In 2023, I was part of the child participants and organisations in designing the African Union Child Participation Platform, a platform created by children of Africa under the guidance of the African Union, Mtoto News, and other partnering NGOs and CSOs. It was created following the 4 day consultative meeting in Kenya on December 19th to 22nd, 2023.
