About Monit Khera
My curiosity for fabrics lead me to studying design at National Institute of Design, with specialization in Textiles. Then onwards my journey has been no less than a learning curve each day. Career opening with a Delhi based export firm, taught me nuances of product manufacturing, techniques and technologies understanding the merchandising aspect. Learning product costing and controlling the same has been my learning. Practicing on my own and consulting various formats of design and product was the second best decision of my life. It gave me opportunities to dive in to various interpretations of yarns and fabrics. table and kitchen linen, top of the Bed, value added bedding, decorative cushions, fabrics on roll, jacquards, infant bedding, carpets and rugs, for some most well known global brands, has been a great high. I have often extended my association beyond a project, problem solving in terms of design correction & controlling product cost. My biggest strength has been my technical support to my clients, always free of cost, and the finest way to learn. Having managed my own business, I am good with people management and daily operation of running a manufacturing unit, finer details of product making & volume production. Then followed my urge to enter the corporate segment of organized retail followed by stint with Portico. Heading their design department for bed & bath retail division, gave me strong insights on how business work in organized format. I also spear headed the product communicating & packaging design for the 3 of their brands. Visual merchandising for LFS formats pan India, was a part of my portfolio of work. Working with licensed properties & designer labels, was another part of my learning. Indo count gave me the opportunity to be a part of their new retail brand, for Indian market. Building teams, structuring the organization, setting brand DNA, were my adrenaline rush on daily basis. In my 6 yrs of stint with ICIL, I have driven the brand to various levels of establishing. Overlooking their category operations, streamlining the product making at plant level, building comprehensive collections year after year, season after season with something new to offer each time, has highly been spoken of by the trade at several occasions. Product communication & packaging design has also been a part of my KRA. Content/ copy development for e- com, social media, brand articles. guiding the brand for website & B2B platforms also gave me a great insight. currently heading Boutique Living & Layers, I am seeking my next challenging opportunity.
