ABOUT MONIQUE SIERRA

I am a senior social work leader, director, supervisor, and DEI practitioner with extensive experience in special education and school-based mental health systems. I build strong teams, develop sustainable programs, and create equitable systems that support students with diverse learning and mental health needs—while empowering the professionals who serve them.I currently supervise 15 social workers and clinicians and lead interdisciplinary teams serving over 600 students, including those with IEPs, 504 plans, and complex mental health needs. I design structures and programs that strengthen practice, compliance, and care delivery, always centering culturally responsive, trauma-informed approaches.Key accomplishments include- Supervised and supported 15+ social workers, social work interns, clinicians, school counselors, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and learning specialists enhancing professional growth and accountability- Led teams serving 600+ students, improving access to mental health and special education services- Developed and delivered 25+ workshops and professional development sessions, increasing staff confidence and consistency in practice- Designed and scaled 6 programs aligned with MTSS, equity initiatives, and compliance requirements- Strengthened collaboration across special education, mental health, and instructional teams, improving systems coordination.My leadership style is relational, reflective, and results-driven, balancing accountability with care. I am passionate about supporting educators and social workers through supervision, professional learning, and leadership development so they can thrive in complex systems.I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University and am available for remote leadership, supervision, consultation, training, and program development roles in special education, mental health, education, and nonprofit settings.
