Imvax™ is a clinical-stage biotechnology/life science company focused on the development of novel patient-specific immunotherapy strategies for the treatment of malignant gliomas and other cancers with unmet medical needs. It was launched as a stand-alone company in December 2015, to accelerate research and development of its glioblastoma treatment and opened a state-of-the-art headquarters and research facility in Philadelphia in early 2020. The company is accelerating the development of IGV-001 and has completed a phase 2b study in newly diagnose glioblastoma (GBM).When I was asked to join Imvax, there were 7 full time employees (so in essence, it felt like a start-up even though they had been in business since 2015). Initially, I was asked to recruit functional leaders to create a foundation for the organization’s structure. Within 3 months, as the study took an aggressive positive turn, I was asked to oversee the operations and strategy of the talent acquisition lifecycle, the development of tools, and the creation of a TA function. Created an internal recruitment function, hired contract recruiters based on ebbs and flows of the business Led workforce planning and strategy to recruit, attract and retain talent Built a team and developed a method to hire top talent and enhance the candidate experience while keeping in line with the fast growth of the organization Identified external agencies that could provide contractors or permanent talent when needed, negotiated terms and conditions with all external recruitment agencies (contract or permanent) Designed and developed template for job descriptions for functional leaders and hiring managers Developed, oversaw and exceeded CPH (cost per hire) and TTF (time to fill) metrics Hired 58 highly-skilled, full-time employees and contracted 27 senior-level consultants within 3.5 years
