ABOUT MONIQUE HAMRICK
Building HR infrastructure in defense contracting has taught me that strategy matters more than process. When I joined Sherpa 6, we were a growing Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business with big ambitions but startup-level HR systems. The challenge? Scale to 500 employees while navigating DCAA compliance, security clearances, and the unique demands of defense technology work.Here\'s what actually moved the needle:Organizational design isn\'t just org charts. We built salary bands from $50K to $500K across 15 grade levels, created clear career paths for 50+ distinct roles, and gave people a roadmap for growth. Transparency drives retention.Performance management has to tie to business priorities. I transitioned us from discretionary bonuses to a structured system aligned with three pillars: Grow the Business, Maintain the Business, and Invest in our Sherpas. When people see the connection between their work and rewards, everything changes.Compliance can be a recruiting advantage. Yes, federal contracting comes with DCAA audits and clearance requirements. But when you build benefits and policies that work for employees within those constraints, you attract talent that competitors miss.I\'ve spent my career at the intersection of federal contracting and people strategy. I know how to build HR functions that support both mission-critical operations and the humans doing the work.#HumanResources #HRLeadership #DefenseContracting #TalentStrategy
