Monika Lukasiewicz (Mo-nee-kuh Woo-kuh-SHAY-veech) has a passion for building quality community, supporting resiliency and creativity, living with purpose and innovating to improve access to evidence-inspired dementia care.Some of her most enjoyable professional experiences have included innovation for better access to evidence-based dementia care; supporting home-based occupational therapists through e-book, articles and then later starting a podcast (\"Home Health Occupational Therapy Explorer\"); developing local leadership, innovation and inspiration by hosting a local group-oriented continuing education project focused on home-based care in occupational therapy; serving families living at home with dementia to be better equipped by Monika first getting trained in and then developing the use of an evidence-based program called COPE (Care of Older People in their Environment) into community-based practice with the help of local non-profit Oakwood Creative Care and federal funding support from the Administration for Community Living (ACL) Alzheimer\'s Disease Program Initiative; collaborating to develop local funding voucher for families without insurance to receive the COPE Program thru Oakwood; supporting leadership in young Latinas with the Camp LIVE Leadership through occupation in crafts; bringing practical insights to OTPs by getting published in the AOTA OT Practice addressing collaboration; decreasing time between making home safety recommendations and them being completed thru innovation and collab with Rosarium Health and developing a customized product list for families living with dementia on AskSamie.com.Other meaningful collaborations have included the Arizona Caregiver Coalition, Oakwood Creative Care, Arizona Caregiver Summit Planning Committee, Maricopa County Healthy Brain Initiative Committee (and Partnerships & Policy Co-Chair), ArizOTA, Rachel Wiley and the Dementia Collaborative, Dr. Laura Gitlin, Dr. Dani Cabral with BrainLove, Sarah Lyon at OT Potential, Midwestern University, Huntington University, Methodist University, Gateway Community College, COPE Program, Amplify OT, Arizona LeadingAge, and the American Parkinson\'s Disease Association (APDA).She dreams of a world in which any family, person, team or student wanting access to evidence-inspired dementia care, especially occupational therapy, can get it with ease and simplicity at least yearly.
