About Monica Clem

I have a vision of creating a better world through equitable access to education and career development, and I work to close the gap between ambition and achievement for everyone, regardless of their starting point.I currently serve as Vice President of the national Career Center at Teach For America. In this role, I lead an extraordinary team of professionals dedicated to designing, curating, and delivering mission-driven career support, programs, and talent initiatives for our participant and alumni network. Together, we help connect tens of thousands of our alumni network members to tools and opportunities that accelerate careers of impact. My areas of expertise and professional experience include career services leadership, strategic planning, implementation, and operational management, organizational systems-building, remote and in-person team leadership, higher education administration, and digital program enablement. As a certified Master of Career Services (CMCS) and a Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP), I\'m experienced in higher education administration and nonprofit leadership.My research interests are rooted in understanding the factors that influence career development and decision-making, especially among first-generation students and college graduates, and leveraging these insights to design and deliver proactive, early career development interventions.     I lead Teach for America\'s efforts to provide mission-aligned career support to our national alumni network. The TFA Career Center team is passionate about helping alumni progress in their careers as a critical means to achieving our overall mission of educational equity for all children in America. Together, our Career Center team works to collaborate and partner across our ecosystem and accelerate career advancement for our network. Specific initiatives include- Lead a national, fully remote Career Center team of professionals in strategic planning and operations, including designing and launching a comprehensive digital career center and online alumni hub- Strengthen overall user experience with TFA Career Center digital offerings through partnerships with IT, UX, and program leads- Build and deliver baseline career resources for our network in mission-aligned career pathways- Cultivate opportunities through a coordinated approach to employer, graduate school, and other talent partnerships- Test, pilot and scale innovative career development programs and innovative support tools - Coordinate with regional executive leadership and alumni-serving staff to advance alumni career a acceleration in highly critical local roles and facilitate cross-regional recruitment.
