ABOUT MONICA ZECH

Monica Zech, a distinguished driving safety educator, brings a unique blend of professional and personal experiences to her talks. With an 18-year tenure as an Air Traffic Reporter and another 18 years as a Public Information Officer for police and fire, her presentations are enriched with poignant reflections on traffic incidents that have touched her life. Her engaging talks elevate the audience\'s understanding of driving safety, helping to decrease their collision risk factor. The topics addressed include distracted and aggressive driving, DUI, driver fatigue, and road rage among others. Monica\'s presentation, titled \"Stay Alert-Stay Alive\" is informative and captivating, aiming to improve defensive driving skills and increase awareness of driving hazards. As a corporate speaker, she helps to reinforce your company\'s commitment to safe driving practices. With over four decades dedicated to safety advocacy and research, Monica\'s expertise is invaluable. Upon request, Monica Zech presents at company safety briefings, conferences, military safety stand-downs, and to various community groups, colleges, and high schools locally and nationally. She\'s also in high demand as a speaker for MADD and works with emergency agencies and safety organizations as a speaker to fulfill their safety grants. Monica also speaks during Red Ribbon Week and at DARE graduations. Career Highlights: Monica Zech is honored to be San Diego\'s first female airborne traffic reporter and the city\'s inaugural television traffic reporter for both NBC and ABC local news affiliates. Monica\'s dedication to safety inspired her to switch careers and become a Public Information Officer and Safety Educator for an East County fire department. She later served the city and its police department as well. Retiring in August 2019 allowed Monica to dedicate herself to speaking engagements full-time. Her work in news and safety has earned her numerous awards. In safety, she received the 1990 California Governor\'s Transportation Award and a 1995 State Traffic Safety Award from the California Office of Traffic Safety. In journalism, she received a 2007 lifetime achievement award from the San Diego chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and in 1985, she received a Golden Mike and two San Diego Press Club awards for her first on-the-scene reporting of the San Ysidro McDonald\'s tragedy in July of 1984.
