About Monica Curca
Mónica Curca is a Peace Designer, interdisciplinary artist, and organizer, and the founder and co-director of Activate Labs—an organization dedicated to shifting power to share power through cultural strategy, narrative change, and community-led Peace Design processes. She works alongside frontline communities and social movements around the world to co-design strategies for justice, imagination, and cultural and social transformation. Based in Washington, D.C, Mónica can often be found crafting bright wearable art, dreaming up new participatory methods and tools, or co-creating movement-centered art.

Monica is the founder and director of Activate Labs a nonprofit that builds a global creative force for peace and justice. It activates and resources grassroots leaders that face violence and oppression through popular education training and participatory design using the \"Frame Design Process\" as they work to transform their communities and build peace. Monica is a peacebuilder, facilitator, and community organizer leveraging storytelling and capacity building to make a more just and peaceful world. Monica’s passion is radical inclusion by democratizing information and processes to those directly impacted. She specializes in using participatory processes and design thinking to support movements, organizations and grassroots communities as they collectively work to shift policy, narrative, and culture towards justice and to build peace. Monica holds two Masters Degrees from the Heller School for Social Policy in Management at Brandeis University, in Sustainable International Development and Conflict and Coexistence.
