About Monica Cellio
I\'ve spent my career straddling the line between writing software and writing docuemntation mostly for developers. I thrive when I can bring all of my diverse skills to the table to solve interesting problems and help cross-functional teams succeed. I write excellent documentation - and I also help design software interfaces, write example code and functional tests, coach developers on software processes and usability, review pull requests, and as scrum master help my team get things to \"done\". Organizations that restrict people to pigeonholes are my Kryptonite. As a scrum master and team lead, my approach is servant leadership: my primary job is to help the whole team be productive by removing roadblocks. If I can handle a distraction (like an easy backport or writing some new tests), I try to do it myself instead of interrupting someone who\'s focused on another task. As an individual contributor, I want to work with teammates and managers who share this philosophy of collaboration and flexibility. As a volunteer, I\'ve spent more than a decade doing content moderation and community management for online platforms. Since 2019 I\'ve been a steady contributor to the Codidact #FOSS platform, in addition to being the lead community manager (see the entry for the Codidact Foundation).
Experience
Community Lead and Director
Nov 2019 — Present
Codidact is an open-source platform for knowledge-sharing communities. We host a network of communities at https://codidact.com and are actively building the software platform that hosts them. We empower communities to customize their areas to best fit their needs, on our network or running their own instances of the platform. As community lead, I gather requirements, design features and user interfaces, write documentation and blog posts, work with community managers and our volunteer moderators to care for their communities, and help community members learn and contribute. As a member of a small open-source team, I triage issues, troubleshoot, test, review PRs, and sometimes fix bugs and add small features (learning Ruby on Rails). The Codidact Foundation was incorporated as a non-profit in November 2020. I serve as a founding member of the board of directors. Some of my work- The Codidact Vision: https://meta.codidact.com/posts/276296- Building Codidact Communities: https://medium.com/nerd-for-tech/building-codidact-communities-1b9e08•••73eProject links- https://codidact.org (foundation) and https://codidact.com (our communities)- Primary repository: https://github.com/codidact/qpixel
