About Mona Murakami Cho
Mona is a high school senior and activist for online safety and gender equality. As a survivor of online abuse, she founded DOSE (Digital Online Safety & Empowerment) Initiative to raise awareness of Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV) and bridge the generational divide in knowledge of online abuse in her community. Her approach to advocacy addresses pressing issues such as the unchecked development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and prioritizing an intersectional understanding of gender equality. Mona\'s grassroots efforts include giving presentations about TFGBV at middle/high schools, community organizations, and nonprofits and creating social media content about TFGBV. Her top down efforts include speaking engagements for policy development with federal and state governmental agencies and public organizations. Mona promotes gender-focused and survivor-centered solutions and policy for the safe, secure, and trustworthy development and use of technology, so that her generation can thrive in the online world without worry of harassment, discrimination, or exploitation.
