The Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) Teaching Fellows AmeriCorps program recruits, trains, and places teachers in high-need Catholic schools across the country.\" As a member of ACE, I was also privileged to serve as an Americorps member who is committed to the community in which they are placed: for me, that was Miami. For our training, we receive a Masters in Education from the University of Notre Dame by taking courses in instruction, inclusive education and education policy intensively over the summers and during the school year. During the school year, I was privileged to teach at St. James Catholic School in the Archdiocese of Miami. St. James is a PK-8 Title I school in North Miami serving a community of 400+ students with diverse backgrounds and with learning needs. St. James had a lot of turnover in previous years for my position and I was charged with building a Social Studies program from the ground up.
