A true sophisticate, Manolo has always possessed a personal style that feels as though it belongs to another era or perhaps exists entirely outside of time. His name has become synonymous with women’s luxury footwear, yet his path to shoemaking was anything but conventional. Originally studying art and set design in Paris, he discovered shoe design almost by chance. He went on to learn his craft at its source, visiting the finest Italian factories and immersing himself in the expertise of master artisans.
After settling in London in 1969, Manolo opened his first boutique on Old Church Street, Chelsea, in 1971, a place he remained deeply connected to for decades. His magnetic personality created an atmosphere of beauty, creativity, and fascination, drawing in customers and friends alike.
Today, we are a globally recognised, privately owned company, headquartered in London. Our ateliers, offices, and boutiques span the world, from New York and Milan to Paris, Hong Kong, and Beijing.
